Pilgrims' Way
Pilgrims' Way is not just another pretty landscape on our church grounds. It is rich in symbolism - a living, breathing metaphor for the spiritual journey that awaits us all.
Anyone and everyone is welcome. Located in front of our church, you are invited to pull off alongside the road, park your car, cross the bridge, and take this symbolic walk of life. The journey begins at the spring - the source of life. Near the spring is the baptismal font, whose waters cleanse and restore us. The depth and breadth of the meaning of baptism is profound. From this point on we have been changed.
There is a steep climb. Soon, we reach a point where we could turn away, cross the bridge, and return to the life we knew. God gives us that choice. But, if we continue our ascent, to strive for truth and justice and follow the path of Christ's teachings, the way is clear. It is not easy. There are many distractions, yet all the while we can witness and participate in the wonder of God's Creation. We may even have an opportunity to pause and tend the garden.
The path eventually levels out some. The climb is not so steep. We can pause, turn around, and clearly see where we have been. We can sit on the wall and reminisce, feel close to loved ones who have gone before us, and pray. This is the memorial garden. But it is not a final resting place. No, just behond the memorial bays is a gather place - The Church, the Body of Christ, of which we are all vital members.
Glory to God! As it was in the beginning, is now and will be for ever. AMEN.
